At Hastings Deering, we’re not just training — we’re transforming futures.

We’re on the lookout for an energetic Technical Trainer to join our award-winning team and deliver high-quality learning experiences across our branches in Queensland and the Northern Territory.

This is a permanent role with a 7 on / 7 off roster where you’ll play a vital part in developing the next generation of Cat® professionals.

What You’ll Do

No two days are the same. One week you might be hands-on in the workshop, the next you’re designing engaging training materials or travelling to a regional branch to deliver sessions. In this role, you’ll:
  • Develop and maintain practical, high-impact training materials and aids.
  • Create a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment that empowers every participant.
  • Coordinate all training logistics — from travel and facilities to resources — ensuring a seamless experience.
  • Be a visible ambassador of the oneHD values, setting the standard for professionalism and pride in everything you do.
Why Join Us?

At Hastings Deering, our people are the heart of our success. We take pride in supporting our team members to grow, thrive, and build lasting careers. As one of the top Caterpillar dealers globally and part of the Sime Darby network, we offer genuine opportunities that reach far beyond our own borders.

Here’s what you can look forward to:
  • Ongoing training, mentorship, and career development pathways.
  • A supportive, inclusive, and down-to-earth team that values collaboration over competition.
  • Access to global career opportunities through the Sime network.
  • Health, wellbeing, and lifestyle benefits, including our Employee Assistance Program, free health checks, and private health discounts.
  • Paid parental leave, salary continuance insurance, and employee rewards programs.
  • Free on-site parking and annual salary reviews.

About You

You’re passionate about people, safety, and sharing your technical know-how. You’re at your best when you’re hands-on, helping others learn and succeed.

You’ll also bring:
  • A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
  • A Certificate III in Heavy Earthmoving (MEM, AUR, or equivalent trade).
  • 2–5 years’ post-trade experience in mining, construction, or heavy earthmoving.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and comfort managing logistics and communication.
  • Flexibility to travel across QLD and NT.
